This is as close to a religious moment as I'll ever be...

said my husband to me during our anniversary trip to California.

We drove down the Oregon coast into California, where we marveled at the majestic Redwood trees, that left us speechless and in awe. Truly a humbling time for us, as we stood there quite small, and wondered what stories those trees might tell from their 2,000 years of life.

I find the natural cathedral a very fitting picture for this post. :)

  1. The topic of what to call those "awe of science" moments came up recently. We were inconclusive.

  4. I love that part of the country. Two thoughts come to mind. 1) We saw redwoods in Scotland at the royal botanic garden in Edinbough - they have a stand of them there - of all places. and 2) You are right awe natural is super awesome cool and to me beats a religious experience any day.

  5. So cool! I love to imagine what a certain spot of land - my yard or a cul-de-sac or parking lot looked like thousands of years ago. And now you know!
